Can getting fit be fun? Rebecca makes it her mission to find out!
I hate going to the gym. I don’t like sweating. I get bored on the elliptical trainers. I get shin splints from the treadmill. My hips hurt when I use the exercise bike. I lose count when I am doing reps. I take more time taking breaks then lifting weights. The gym is not the place for me.
But…
I want to get fit. I want to tone my body and feel healthier. So what is a gym hater like me to do?
“Find a physical activity you enjoy so that you want to work out” says my personal trainer. “Your motivation will improve greatly if you actually enjoy your workouts” An activity I enjoy… hmmm…
So here is the experiment – Every month I will try a new “fun” way to get fit and report back on my findings. I will grade each activity on a scale of 1-10 on the following points:
- Difficulty – I am possibly the clumsimest person in the world so the activity will have to require a low amount of coordination for me to grasp and enjoy it. However, it will have to be hard enough that I need to concentrate and pay attention or else I will get bored and lazy the way I do on the ellipticals.
- Fun Factor – How fun was it? Does the activity leave me feeling excited when I think about coming next time or do I dread my next session?
- The workout – Was the activity actually a good workout? Did I work my muscles and get in some cardio or was it all fun and games?
Watch for articles to come while I try my hand at Zoomba class, hot yoga, boxing, aqua fit and maybe even some pole dancing lessons. I am determined to find a fun way to get fit!!
